Would You Sing It?

From the first time You flooded the earth
To the last time You burned off the curse
To the way that You hated Your Son
When You hung all the sins of the world

Holy, Holy, Holy, Holy, Holy, Holy, Holy.

Heaven will disappear with a roar
The host of God will come to destroy
Sin is a declaration of war
God will have his glory one way or another

Indy Car in Nashville

Indy Car in NashvilleYesterday was an amazing day for Meredith and me as we got to be a part of the IRL race in Nashville!  I led worship at the chapel service that is held each week by the IRL Ministry team.  This weekend there were two chapel services and a mass with a number of team members and family attending. The race was fast, breath taking and way cool like I knew it would be but it paled in comparison to the work that the IRL Ministry team is doing.

These guys do an awesome job and it is obvious that God is using them as they live life with the race teams and perform pastoral ministry for them and their families. I really appreciate what they do.  It reminds me  a lot of my time with the teams at ULM.  There is just something about spending time with people where they really are - where they are shedding blood and sweat.  These guys travel with the race teams each weekend, raising their own support to do this.  They provide the chapel and mass services; they pray with the drivers and teams before the races; they are there for the drivers and their families in the event of an accident and it's quite obvious from watching them that they do much much more.  They are the presence of Christ in this IndyCar world and as always, it's cool to see missionaries moving in their setting.3wg6-a2d6ccd5d710bd040334b6d537ae40f3.487a1abf

Mer and I spent a great part of the day with Dave and Deatra Storvick.  Dave is the assistant chaplain for IRL Ministry and works with Bob Hills and Hunter Floyd.  These guys were incredibly gracious to us and made the day brilliant for us.  It was cool to get to know them and learn a lot about racing that I didn't know.

During the race we sat with Dave and Deatra at the end of the pit area (right by turn four).  This was Mer's first race and it was worth all of the heat and rain to just see her face as the cars flew by.  There is absolutley no way to get you mind around how fast these guys are going without being there.  The race was cut short by rain but was still unbelievable.  Mer had a great time and as well all know...when you get your wife out to something that you really like (i.e., sporting events, concerts, movies...) it's always  a huge win when they like it :-)  And she did.  She even wanted to keep her card that shows all of the cars so she knows who is who when we watch the races on TV.

If you will take a second to pray for Bob, Dave, Deatra, Hunter and Father Phil as they carry the presence of Christ into the IndyCar world.  I'm honored to know them and know that God is and will continue to bless their work.
